Every year over 1,500 yachts and more than 10,000 sailors get together to compete in The Round The Island Race. Circumnavigating the Isle of Wight this annual one day race is the yachting worlds equivalent of the London Marathon. After a fantastic event in 2006 happily we are again competing in 2008 and offering groups and individuals the chance to race with us.
The Round The Island Race was first raced in 1931. Today, yachts still compete annually for the Gold Roman Bowl, the legendary trophy presented by the race's founder Cyril Windeler. Little did he realise what he was starting and a huge variety of yachts take part, from maxisleds and high performance multi-hulls to small coastal cruisers and sedate old timers. This makes the race start one of the most exciting and visually spectacular moments in the sporting calendar.
We have tailor-made the RTIR 2008 package to maximise team building, social interaction and enjoyment. We provide the organisation, catering, top class yacht complete with a professional skipper and you and your friends or colleagues make up the crew. It starts on the Friday when we will give you a full day of sail and race training, essential for novices and professionals alike. You get to know each other and just as importantly your racing yacht.
Saturday follows with some exhilarating, challenging and fun racing all rounded off with an evening of social shore time. Sunday allows for a slower paced restorative outing freeing you up for your return journey early afternoon. We expect an exciting few days in the Solent whatever your experience.
